Villages

This week’s #FriFotos theme is Villages. I haven’t visited many villages in my time but I’ve picked out a few favourites from my travels in Europe. Follow #FriFotos on Twitter to share your village photos.

Bakar – Croatia

Bakar is a peaceful fishing village in northern Croatia, not far from Rijeka.

  1. Well, the only one of those I’ve been to is Giverny. A couple of tips for visiting Monet’s garden. Between 12 and 2 pm, there are no busloads so it’s a good time to go. If you want to visit the impressionist museum (an offshoot of Orsay), buy a double ticket there first and you won’t have to queue for the gardens! The famous nympheas are in July, but the tulips in April are wonderful and so is the wisteria in May.

I’ve only been once to Giverny, at the beginning of April, and there weren’t many flowers out so I’m hoping to go back at a different time to see the tulips and wisteria in bloom. I didn’t see the impressionist museum so will definitely check that out next time.
