My Fab | Cheap Furniture Made to Order

I think I’ve finally accepted that I’m going to be living in Paris long termish so I’ve started buying some nice things to make our apartment more of a home. Last year I stumbled across My Fab, a site where you can get designer furniture, made to order, for a fraction of the regular price.

How it works – users vote on what pieces they might be interested in purchasing. Those that get the most votes go into production. Once they know what will be produced they’ll send an email giving you a week or so to place your order. At the end of the week they place their order with the factory direct in China. Once production is finished, it gets shipped to France and then to your door. The whole process usually takes a few months from the time you place your initial order.

I’ve just placed my 3rd order with them. Last year I bought 2 Fat Boy bean bags (except they’re called ‘Big Georges’ lol) for 60 euro each instead of 180 and a sofa for 450 instead of 1160 euro. I just put my order in for a gorgeous square coffee table at a third of the retail price. It won’t arrive until July but it’s worth the wait, imo.

I was a bit nervous buying with them at first because you have to pay in advance and at one point I wasn’t sure if it was going to arrive, but it did and in perfect condition.  Check them out if you want some modern furniture at bargain prices.

Kitchen Bazaar

Paris is full of kitchen and homeware stores selling the latest kitchen gadgets and appliances but I had trouble finding one store which surpassed all others. Until now… Kitchen Bazaar has everything I want need and has 5 stores in Paris plus an online store so I can get all my goodies delivered to my door. I had a big spend up yesterday at both the Trocadero and Boulogne stores, add to that a trip to Guy Degrenne and Darty and I’m pretty much set when it comes to kitchen stuff.

I can’t believe I’ve gone so long without these things. I managed to pick up some baking pans, cute stainless steel bowls, glasses for tea, more glasses (I tend to break things easily and had been using used Nutella glasses because all my other glasses were broken), a cutting board set, measuring scales, and a Kenwood hand mixer. Add to that the new dinner and cutlery set I got last week and practically everything in my kitchen is new!

Next on my list is a Brabantia poubelle and one of these.

Femme de Menage

I’m so sick of cleaning. I just don’t want to do it anymore. I like things to be really neat and tidy but it’s exhausting. I give up. I need a femme de menage. Does anyone know where I can get one? Where do I look? How much do they cost? Help!!!

To Swim or Not to Swim?

Leesa, this reminds me of our convo the other day…
